An Experiment

By Gagdad Bob

I’m not so sure the idea of two blogs is working out. Ever since we split off from the mother ship, the number of visitors has been steadily plummetting. I have a feeling that it is because the stimulating dialogue gives added value to the site, and spurs budding bobbleheads and bobbing buddleheads to return and eventually participate.

So I would like to redirect everyone back to www.onecosmos.blogspot.com, if only to see if it affects the downward trend. Perhaps it won’t. If so, that’s fine. But it feels kind of empty over there, like an abandoned mine. There hasn’t even been a single troll in weeks, mostly an occasional regular who stops by and gives a shout out to Dupree, or a couple of inarticulate cats that can barely even type….

Proves that trolls need light and positive energy to fester and grow in their own negative way!!!

Well, I moved over there as you asked to keep some activity going so that this remained a somewhat shielded “inner” site for the ongoing regular commenters. I visit both, and look at both sets of comments. Even if you just keep it as a kind of bulletin board or open thread, I think the second one is worth what it costs :-)

  6. Gagdad Bob Says:

I was just about to say — perhaps we could have a daily open thread here to discuss whatever comes up.

  7. Geraldo Says:

I thought you opened this store front because Blogger was becoming unreliable and psychotic.

  8. Gagdad Bob Says:

True. But matters were made worse when I attmpted to import the archives from there to here, and it seemed to corrupt my blogspot template. Since I fixed the template, it’s pretty much been smooth sailing over there. On the other hand, I don’t know how to do anything on wordpress to customize the site, so it looks kind of half-assed. And I can still use this one as a backup.

    As I said, it’s an experiment….

Bob, I didn’t realize there were two sites “til you just mentioned it. I sorta liked the old site with that great benign photo of you and whatever other pics you choose to share.

Bob — You can run, but you can’t hide. You could have ten sites and I would still check them all every day — wouldn’t want to miss class!

  11. walt Says:

Bob, just FYI, I visit both sites daily, but will be happy with your preference.

Open thread and sort of related to a recent post too:

Check out commenter Assistant Village Idiot and TCS’ Arnold Kling on communication of trust cues. Full of provocative matter, and helps us remember we are unconsciously tribal animals more than we admit.

Also, the kid’s fashion sense excels. Better jammies than I’ve seen recently.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear. It took only a handful of posts to draw a troll- a self-identified troll to boot. What’s up with me anyway? No inclination to play whack-a-troll anymore. This may be a good thing but I’m not really sure.

We’re here Dr. Bob, quietly thinking about your thoughts. I also posted the same comments over at the blog. I’ve been spreading the word about you Dr. Bob.
